Not quite enough to make me wish I still cared. I did not want this movie to end, and at the same time I was happy watching it ending. I did not blink for a moment and I did cry.
Anything beyond 4th, 5th and 6th episode was a pure and utter mess for me. Characters introduced out of nowhere, the story diverging into something that cannot end unless you make a tv show out of all that and then pervert the story with each episode.
I did not want to watch this movie, but I owed it to myself. I was barely 12 when the 4th episode was shown. I could not understand a thing, because I could not understand that anything like that even on the celluloid tape could exist.
That feeling that anything is possible, that you just need to believe, that all will be good, that everything has to end either way, that things are bad for reason from time to time, never left me. It was on some level my first lesson into what religious experience might look like. It was not an escapism for me. It was all real, it was all possible, it has become a part of who I am. I was educated about space, physical impossibilities of Einstein, and I do not mind dreaming even today with all 50 years accrued.
This is the first one beyond central major third that I responded emotionally to. First of all, the dark side was very serious this time. A psychological struggle was extended, the scenes that follow it are admirable in every sense. Only for that this movie should not be missed.
Each character got its moment. As much as in the 4th episode when they try to solve the problems and fail until they are brought into an impossible situation, this one tries to give a compass not to follow it, but rather to have something to fail over, to bring the characters into the situation of believing in themselves and almost nothing else.
The situation is here different than when I was 12 years old. I do expect more. I would not be able to watch it without fantastic fight close to 4K details scenes from sword to the sky, sure, yet all of that is there.
The sense that it is all over and that I have to say goodbye hurts, but I am equally grateful that (this time) my feelings were respected. It did not diverge, again, into. whatever. It tried to close all gaps, even at moments mocking itself for having details in all (is it really nine? nine episodes that are not logical or dumb.
This is probably only the second time I had that closure feeling with million people on this planet. One more legacy is over. Young people have brought the torch back for a moment and they did not fail.

I do not know if new kids that have all imagination in front of them with each new phone upgrade can understand what it means to live with fictional characters for that long, being inspired by books, movies, learning lessons that stay with you, that are giving you ground, that are parenting you. br> It is different these days, kids are guided by their natural feeling which they use to make a quick selection out of billions choices. We had (had) to wait for good things to come as they were affecting us, as you can see, to the bone.
Thanks again. No, I did not expect to fall in love with characters I could not even understand in these extended nonsense stories, but at least this time I had to, as there was no other way of connecting to my own past. I trusted them this time. I thought they might have learned the lesson after so many (5 exactly) failures. And they have not disappointed me.

The new trilogy was something different and that's ok. I enjoyed all of the 3 movies and the rise of Skywalker was a good way to end the saga. Wasn't perfect, left us with answers but nonetheless it was good.
